It is now 3:45, and after forty-five minutes of trying to fall back asleep, I have taken to blogging
Almost an hour ago I woke up to what felt like a baby dance party. Can all babies high-kick, or do I have a rock star growing inside me? The baby was rocking, rolling, and rhythmic hiccupping with some intermittent rib kicking in the mix. It was so funny, that I am not even one bit annoyed that I am up for the day four hours earlier than planned. I actually wonder if this is the baby’s way of retaliating against the Braxton Hicks contractions that have now started? In the very least, it’s good for me to begin getting used to not having a controlled sleep schedule.
The count-down is now at nine weeks to go, and I am trying to decide what sounds better: nine weeks or two months? Nine is a much higher number, but the fact that the word “months” is still plural isn’t too exciting either. Regardless, we have so much to do in the remaining time that I should probably stop counting down the days and start tying-up the loose ends of the many projects that need to be completed pre-baby arrival. We finally ordered the nursery furniture, the room is painted, the rocker/glider options have been narrowed down to two, the car seat has been picked out and needs to be ordered, the stroller research is in full swing, and the list goes on…
Choosing the nursery set was much harder than we imagined. Who knew that there were SO MANY options!? In the end, we decided on a Young America “Built to Grow” set that should take this baby all the way through the teenage years. I really didn’t even know that was an option until we started our research, but it seems so slick:
I’ll let you know if I still think this is a good choice when baby number two comes, and we are buying a whole new bedroom set! Until then, I am very happy with our choice. As far as the rocker/glider goes, we can’t decide between the traditional rocking chair and the new loveseat styles. If anyone has a strong opinion either way, feel free to weigh in.
Not forgotten on our list is to relax. Joe and I planned a trip to Arizona in the beginning of November and are eagerly awaiting some sunshine and six days of no checklists! This Friday Joe is going to replace our broken camera, so I will return with pictures and some baby-moon planning tips. Until then, have a Happy Halloween!

Depending on what rocker you are looking at, check the position or height of the arm rests. A little detail that can make or break the deal, ours is too low and uncomfortable, especially for nursing. Also, if it is solid wood you may not be comfortable in it, especially right after delivery. The more padding the better! Just my two cents after two babes.

The only thing I can say for sure is that you will definitely want something that actually reclines in case you need to sleep while nursing or comforting a fussy baby… especially when they are a year and a half battling a horrible cold! And, forgive me as I know you are extra excited about making your nursery set decision, but really think about what you want for baby #2. Do you want to have to buy a new crib? Will you get bored of what you have gotten for baby #1 in a few years? I know so many people who have gotten the convertible nursery sets who have regretted it afterward. Cool in concept but not so much when it comes to the converting. As I anticipate the birth of #3, it excites me to be able to decorate #2′s big girl room just as it did when I got to decorate #1′s big boy room. It’s buying new furniture, creating new themes, etc. Even though I will be using the same crib and changing table for #3, I will switch up the bedding and the wall decor to make it unique to him or her (I’ll start planning as soon as I know what we’re expecting!). My kids are very close in age so we do have an extra crib in case the transition to the big girl bed is not immediate… we happened to borrow our from my BIL who is done having kids, but there are inexpensive ones out there as well. Another thing to consider, if you have out of town guests often like we do, is what rooms will carry the duplicate guest room status. You likely won’t have to worry about this until more babies come along but we have a 4 BR house and, as said earlier, have #3 on the way. For this reason, we have designated the smallest room the nursery; my 3 year old son’s room has 2 twin beds (great for when my sister comes into town with her crew… I can stick two of her kids in the beds and 2 on blow-up mattresses on the floor); and my almost 1 1/2 year old will be moving to a queen bed shortly before she turns 2 (that way we have a bed that is big enough for two adults without giving up our room!). Anyway, I know this was long winded but I wanted to make you think into the future before you make such a large financial commitment to a set that may not be your ideal. I have found that I like to spend that money on having the closet done with shelves and stacked hanging as well as some pull-out baskets, and I like my nursery to be nothing but a great big glider, a large bookshelf, the changing table and the crib. Less crowding for when they start to move around. Ooh, and a plant… Boston Ferns, amongst others, are known for absorbing air pollutants. Okay, I’m done. Sorry if I’m confusing things!!

GREAT information!!! Thank you for taking the time to write that, I will take any feedback I can get
And congrats on #3, how exciting?!
